Advertising Assignment

In groups of up to 4 people, create an advertising campaign for a societal want/need.  I would like to see you build on something that you feel will make the product or service better.  You may choose something that everyone does or uses everyday and create a paranoia about it, for example the Dixie cup ad I showed in class. Must Haves: your target audience a clear need or want the text and subtext of the product/service a billboard ad a  30 sec . Interviews

We are now going to explore the inherent biases of print, electronic and visual communications in the interview process. Conduct three separate interviews using three different techniques: One interview will be conducted face-to-face, one will be a telephone interview, and one will be an e-mail interview.  Choose people within the media field to interview. You would be surprized, if you don't "know" anyone, how simple it is to contact a person in that field and to get a response. Usually people in this profession love to talk about themselves and what they do. A fair amount of them want to "give back" so.... Please choose a different person for each method. The specific questions don't really matter but they should be related to the media. You will be 'taking up their time' so make sure the questions are relateable and intelligent. Your assigned group are assuming the role of a small publishing company. You are to develop a concept for a new magazine and have to sell the concept to the advertisers. Each group must have an Editor-in-chief and one person as a Co-Editor. Decide on the individual articles each member will write. Each article should be 500-750 words and the author should take a definte stance on the topic to be investigated In preparing for the articles, library and internet research should be undertaken, using current materials. At the end of each article, sources at least 3, should be cited. Each group member will work on advertising, cover design and layout as assigned by the editor/co-editor. Every member of the group must contribute at least one article and one advertisement or visual element - such as the cover - to the magazine. Learning Styles

Each learner has a preferred learning style which can be used to their advantage.  Learners can formulate intentional learning goals and strategies, and understand that media consumers have individual tastes and behaviours which should be respected and can be understood. Assignment: Conduct 2 or more Learning Styles Inventories (use learning+style in a search engine) {Example: a  self-directed learner , sets learning goals, defines appropriate time lines, and execute individual learning strategies.} You will then; a)Complete a reflection  on your personal learning styles inventories,(with examples) including y our learning goals for this course, and  b)An early strategy for accomplishing your learning goals.
