Interviews

We are now going to explore the inherent biases of print, electronic and visual communications in the interview process.
Conduct three separate interviews using three different techniques: One interview will be conducted face-to-face, one will be a telephone interview, and one will be an e-mail interview. 

Choose people within the media field to interview. You would be surprized, if you don't "know" anyone, how simple it is to contact a person in that field and to get a response. Usually people in this profession love to talk about themselves and what they do. A fair amount of them want to "give back" so....
Please choose a different person for each method.

The specific questions don't really matter but they should be related to the media. You will be 'taking up their time' so make sure the questions are relateable and intelligent. Choose questions that will delve into their specific roles within the media field. There should be, at least, 5 questions.
Please include the questions.

Write an article which reflects on your feelings and abilities to process information efficiently in each of the three experiences. You can include some of the information obtained but the focus of this piece is on the process of interviewing using different styles.  Please include and introduction as well as a conclusion.

Discuss the following:
~ the mechanics of each method
~ the strengths and weaknesses of each method
~ the depth and quality of the discourse
~ your overall satisfaction with the results
~ Which method do you feel would be most suitable for your initial contact? Why?

Length: up to 3 pages
Style: informal, personal ~ but use complete sentences, paragraphs

Evaluation:
10 marks for presentations style: neatness, correct english usage
10 marks for content, insight, style, organization of material.

Viral Video

What makes a documentary? Events must be unstaged, independent of cinema, non-fiction stages to film Conventionally non-fiction; real world activities Assumes an objective record of real events by filmmakers; camera influences film event; techniques of camera and choices made in filming, like in the camera and lens choice, are subjective choices. All films have selection and editing. There is objectivity but all events are seen from some perspective. How do these selections manipulate and shape the event?
